The Negative Self-serving Agendas

Dear All,

A couple of months ago, I saw invitations in my mail box for
membership of this forum. I procrastinated for a long time
but finally registered myself on Thursday. What I noticed
on this forum was definitely not a cause for celebration.

I was disappointed to notice that the same characters who
have been active on other forums with their negative
self-serving agendas are trying to grab headlines over here
as well. I don't mind when people grab headlines for seva
or some contribution to the community. But it's definitely a
matter of concern when people try to make their personal
pet peeves the be-all and end-all of their public life and in
the process get everyone worked up with no possibility of any
gain either at an individual or societal level. This is a proposition
where everyone loses and the Sikh agenda gets hijacked. One
would hope that there is more to life than posting the same
essays again and again on various forums and raising the
same controversies all over again.

The only tried and tested method of reform in Sikhi which has
worked well in the past is the one in which the individuals first
reform themselves and then dedicate themselves to the service
of the Guru. Their dedication and service to the Guru inspire
others to do the same.

However some individuals have adopted a different approach.
They want to change the world not through service or devotion
but with clever argumentation and disingenuous logic. Seeking
the lowest common denominator that provides justification for
our own actions and lives is inherently negative that does no
good to anyone.

Regards,

Kulbir Singh
