SGPC elections cancelled by Punjab and Haryana Court, notification withdrawn

CHANDIGARH: Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday ordered the Gurdwara Election Commission to withdraw the notification for general elections of SGPC to be held on September 18. Subsequently the government of India withdrawn the notification.
The court decision came on the petition filed by Sehajdhari Sikh Federation which challenged the election process on the ground that Sehajdhari voters shall be allowed to cast votes. The High Court has ordered to enroll the eligible Sehajdhari Sikhs as voters. More details are awaited.
