Hello I'm new here, it's rude not to say hello properly but I couldn't find the introduction forum.

I am an so called Hindu. The word Hinduism comes from the Parsi, "Hindus river". The British called all Indian religions for Hinduism they just merged them. This is also what so called "Hinduism" has to offer.

"In some ways people had got used to the idea that India was spiritual and religion-oriented. That gave a leg up to the religious interpretation of India, despite the fact that Sanskrit had a larger atheistic literature than exists in any other classical language. Even within the Hindu tradition, there are many people who were atheist. Madhava Acharya, the remarkable 14th century philosopher, wrote this rather great book called Sarvadarshansamgraha, which discussed all the religious schools of thought within the Hindu structure. The first chapter is "Atheism" - a very strong presentation of the argument in favor of atheism and materialism."

A little side note, Indian is an slang for 'indigenous'. They didn't just call Indians, Indians. But also Native Americans, Eskimos and African Tribes. 'The Republic of India' got it's name from the British 'East India Company'.
Not to go of topic in my own thread, without any further ado...

4 You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject

What happened later was the Catholic Church. The popes pray to saints, there are many saints even one they pray to for preventing baldness. And they paint images of God, and their saints like

Among the fiesta participants to the fertility dance are foreigners from other towns in the Philippines, most are asking the patron saints for a son or a daughter, a husband or a wife or good fortune.

Now imagine 6000 years. It goes from monotheism to idol worship and several deities and sacred animals like white rats in temples that are related to Gods.:D
