Shortly after I saw director Ridley Scott's Crusades drama "Kingdom of Heaven" in 2005, I admitted to the director that I liked the film, but felt there was something missing, primarily the complexity of the politics. He agreed, and said it was imperative that he bring the film in at a reasonable length for the studio.
